Overview

Achieve your WSET Level 2 qualification and grow your skills in professional wine tasting on this accredited course. This course is intended for beginner to intermediate wine enthusiasts looking to improve their knowledge and gain a professional qualification. The course is suitable for people working in the wine, food and restaurant industries, or those seeking to build on the introductory knowledge gained with the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines.

Taking place over 3 days, this course comprises of intensive tutoring and practical tasting, enabling you to completely immerse yourself in the world of wine. The course is awarded by the industry-respected Wine and Spirit Education Trust, and led by Leiths’ Head of Wine Marjorie Legendre. You will be sent your official WSET Level 2 workbook 2 weeks prior to the start of the course, enabling you to start familiarising yourself with the information. The workbooks also include sample exam questions.

Marjorie will teach you the principal and regionally important grape varieties of the world, the regions in which they are grown, and the styles of wine they produce.  You’ll also explore the factors that impact style and quality and learn how to describe these wines with confidence.

There are also specially compiled practice papers to help you prepare for your exam, the exam takes place at the end of day 3.

Course Structure

Over the 3 days your time will be divided between practical wine tasting sessions and informative presentations given by Marjorie Legendre, Leiths Head of Wine. On days 2 and 3 Marjorie will take you through practice papers to help cement your learning and prepare you for taking the WSET level 2 exam at the end of day 3.

There will be refreshment breaks throughout the day, you are welcome to use the student dining room to relax during breaks where coffee and tea facilities are also available.  Please be aware lunch is not provided by Leiths, however there are numerous shops, cafes, and restaurants nearby on Askew Road.

Allergies and dietary restrictions 

We are happy to make adjustments where possible. However, some classes are unsuitable for people with particular intolerances as the menu would need to be completely different.
