Overview
Achieve your WSET Level 1 qualification and receive an approachable introduction into the world of wine tasting on this one-day, accredited course. Awarded by the industry-respected Wine and Spirit Education Trust and led by Leiths’ Head of Wine Marjorie Legendre, this qualification is the ideal place to start for those wanting to pursue an interest in wine or begin a wine career.
Under our expertise, you’ll explore the main types and styles of wine and learn to identify them through sight, smell and taste. You’ll also build up the right vocabulary to describe wine accurately, make food and wine pairings and learn about grape varieties and their innate characteristics. To achieve your final qualification, students will complete a multiple-choice exam at the end of the class. Upon successful completion you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin.
Course Structure
Your day will comprise of practical wine tasting sessions and demonstrations performed by the teacher who is running the session, and a multiple-choice exam at the end of the day.
Around midday, you will break for lunch. Lunch is not provided by Leiths on this course but there are shops, cafes and restaurants nearby on Askew Road.

Allergies and dietary restrictions
We are happy to make adjustments where possible. However, some classes are unsuitable for people with particular intolerances as the menu would need to be completely different. After booking, to secure your place, you must fill in the WSET enrolment form and email it to bookings@leiths.com.

To ensure that all students are registered for the exam, we will only be able to accept bookings made a minimum of 12 working days prior to the class date.
