“This recipe was created by our bartender Harry and is based on the classic cocktail, the Old Fashioned, typically made with whisky, bitters, and sugar syrup. Harry has given this classic recipe a twist by incorporating the flavours of the Maremma region of Tuscany.”
Ingredients
Serves 4
50ml Vecchia Romagna Brandy
5ml Cointreau
Orange blossom honey
Angostura bitters
Orange peel
Sprig of thyme
Instructions
- Take a thick-bottomed whisky glass and pour in a teaspoon of honey and add three dashes of Angostura bitters and mix the two thoroughly for at least 30 seconds to ensure the honey doesn’t stick to the bottom of the glass once ice is added.
- Fill the glass to the brim with ice
- Add 50ml Vecchia Romagna
- Add 5ml Cointreau
- Stir with a cocktail stirrer or long spoon for at least 45 seconds to allow some dilution with the ice
- With a potato peeler, peel a strip of orange zest the size of a finger
- Squeeze zest into the top of the glass and wipe the rim of the glass with the zest
- Garnish with the zest and a sprig of thyme
