Overview

Spend quality time together this Mother’s Day and learn to create a delicious, homemade afternoon tea to take home and share. Whether you’re a parent looking for a fun and unique way to spend Mother’s Day with the kids or want to give the gift of some homemade treats, this is the perfect class for you.  

Together with your young foodie you will learn how to make a tempting selection of classic afternoon tea treats including scones with jam and cream, doughnuts, and sausage rolls. Working in our professional kitchen, our teachers will also demonstrate how to master tried and tested techniques in jam preservation, perfect piping for your favourite cakes, and how to crimp pastry for sausage rolls. Then, at the end of the day, all your baked goods will be boxed up, ready for your Mother’s Day afternoon tea at home.  

Suitable for adults and children aged 8-16 years. 

Menu: 

  • Jam doughnuts 
  • Malteser chocolate biscuit cake 
  • Pecorino and fennel seed sausage rolls with brown sauce 
  • Scones with homemade raspberry jam and clotted cream 
  • Carrot cakes with orange frosting

Purchasing a ticket for this class will reserve a space for one adult and one child. 

Course Structure

Your day will comprise of a mixture of practical cookery and demonstrations performed by the teacher who is running the session.  

Around 1pm, you will break for a light lunch and enjoy the dishes you have cooked with the rest of your class, accompanied by a glass of wine for the adults or other refreshments. 

Practicalities

What’s included:  

  • Refreshments on arrival 
  • A recipe booklet 
  • All ingredients provided and weighed out for you in advance 
  • Lunch of your own making or sharing platters prepared by the school, served with Louis Latour wines and other refreshments
  • We do the washing up 

 

What to bring: 

  • Flat soled shoes 
  • Long trousers and a long-sleeved top are advisable 

 

Allergies and dietary restrictions 

We are happy to make adjustments where possible. However, some classes are unsuitable for people with particular intolerances as the menu would need to be completely different.
