KAFFEE is a new Austrian-inspired cafe opening in a beautiful, old stone chapel on the edge of Lower Putney Cemetery. The co-owners are creating a destination for Viennese, patisserie style cakes, savoury lunch options and breakfast at the weekend. The cafe is located on a popular dog-walking route, and will really come to life in the spring and summer months. The aim is that KAFEE will soon become a popular part of the local community.
They are looking for a knowledgeable, creative and energetic pastry chef who would like to take the lead creating the Viennese cake offering. You will also work with one other assistant to deliver a light Austrian-style lunch throughout the week and breakfast at the weekends. They envisage the role to be split 70% Viennese style cakes, 30% soup and sandwiches and breakfast. There will be a soft-launch in the spring and the manager will work with you to set up processes and ordering systems and will initially assist in the kitchen until exact requirements are established.
Candidates will be happy to work at a start-up in a brand new kitchen; will enjoy leading and developing the food offering at a concept cafe; will have training and experience in patisserie; be friendly, collaborative and adaptable; be happy to take initiative, be responsible and reliable.
Hours: initially 30h/week Wed-Sun (owners will work with the chef to establish the best shift pattern)
Salary: £26K
Start: 22nd April with soft launch in May
