This hands-on cookery class introduces you to the essential techniques of both pastry and cake baking, giving you a strong foundation in two of the most beloved areas of the kitchen. Guided by an expert teacher, you’ll learn how to create light, flaky pastry and beautifully baked cakes from scratch.
During the pastry portion of the class, you’ll explore key methods such as rubbing-in, rolling and baking. You’ll work with shortcrust, creating a delicious seasonal tart, gaining confidence in handling pastry and understanding how temperature, texture, and timing influence the final result.
In the cake-baking segment, you’ll dive into the principles behind perfect sponges and rich batters, mastering techniques for mixing and ensuring an even bake. You’ll also create complementary fillings and icings and learn how to finish your cakes with simple yet effective decoration.
The day blends practical, hands-on cooking with engaging demonstrations. Following your cooking session, you’ll sit down for lunch and enjoy one of the delicious dishes you’ve prepared, shared with your fellow participants and accompanied by refreshments and you’ll leave with the knowledge and confidence to recreate everything at home.
