A new grant for culinary school students progressing to Qualified Teacher Status

Funding remains a significant barrier for students pursuing food education qualifications. The lack of funding for those with culinary ambitions is one of the biggest hurdles prospective students face.

Now, with grants like the All Saints Educational Trust grant, food education has become more accessible. The grant helps more students pursue careers in food education, particularly those who would otherwise face financial challenges that may, in some cases, prevent this kind of career progression.

All Saints Educational Trusts Grant

All Saints Educational Trust has unveiled a grant supporting aspiring food educators in their journey to teaching. By providing a grant to cover tuition fees directly, the charity aims to support the future growth of home economics across the education sector.

The charity has introduced the grant to support professional development in food education and teacher training.

How to apply

The second round of applications will open for prospective students from 1 June 2026, closing on 1 September 2026 at 5.00 pm. It’s recommended that you complete this with ample time before the closing deadline.

To complete an online application, you’ll need to register with All Saints Educational Trust. The Trust will provide access from June; applicants must ensure all documentation is prepared and attached prior to submitting.

Prepare the following evidence before your application:

• an offer letter to confirm a place on the Leiths Level 7 Advanced Certificate of Professional Development in Food Education or PGCE in Food and Nutrition
  • proof of UK citizenship
    • professional references

Who can apply?

The grant is designed to support existing culinary students in their career progression to become food education teachers.

Individuals with prior culinary experience or existing culinary skills who are seeking a professional development course, with the end goal of receiving qualified teacher status (QTS).

Applications may also be accepted for those applying for a PGCE in Food and Nutrition, as it assists students in graduating as specialist food teachers and leads towards QTS.
