Summary Street Food from Around the World with Jennifer Joyce

"Street food is immediate, vibrant and not necessarily subtle. It thrills us with its crunch, spice, sweetness, saltiness or sour tang." - Jennifer Joyce

Discover the secrets of delicious, authentic street food in this hands-on masterclass, as you learn to make a a variety of dishes likely to be found around the world either in bustling local markets or perhaps for sale from a street corner food truck. Jennifer has chosen dishes bursting with flavour and colour, to reflect the true essence of Street Food - fresh Kati rolls from Kolkata in West Bengal, delicious Korean bipimbop 'rice' bowls, along with crispy Vietnamese spring rolls.

The recipes, taken from Jennifer's best-selling cookery book 'My Street Food Kitchen', are all easy to make at home, and perfect for parties or tapas-style nights in.

Typical recipes may include:

  • Spicy Indian chicken kati rolls with mint yogurt sauce and lime chutney
  • Grilled piri piri prawns
  • Korean bipimbop veggie rice bowl with fried egg and spicy chilli sauce
  • Vietnamese crispy prawn spring rolls with mint and lettuce wraps served with sriracha lime dipping sauce

Please note, recipes and ingredients may change.

Class structure

Cooking with your classmates is an integral part of your Leiths experience. You will cook some of your recipes in pairs, and some independently – whatever the ratio, there is always more than enough food, and often food to take home too.

Your day will comprise of a mixture of hands on cookery and demonstrations performed by the chef who is running the session. The exact format will vary from class to class depending on the style of cuisine and, in the case of visiting chefs, their individual teaching style.

Unless otherwise stated, you will be eating the food that you have cooked during your class for lunch, usually with wine or elderflower cordial around a communal table. If your class does not involve cooking lunch you will enjoy delicious sharing platters prepared by the school.

Allergies and dietary restrictions
