Summary Let's Cook! Mexican for Teenagers

Bursting with flavour, spice and colour, it's no wonder Mexican food is one of the most popular in the world. Come to Leiths for a dynamic introduction into Mexican cooking creating tantalising dishes using authentic spices and ingredients.

With help from the Leiths' chefs, students will cook a delicious menu of classic recipes and pick up useful skills such as making bread from scratch, pickling and making the perfect guacamole. In this class the students will get to experience every dish on the menu through demonstrations, tasting sessions or practical cooking.

By the time they're finished, they'll be ready to throw a feast for their friends and family.

This class is suitable for young people aged 11 – 17 years old (11 year olds must already be in school year seven).

The Menu:

Pulled Chicken or Smoked Aubergine (V) Tacos

Frijoles with Feta


Pickled Red Onion

Maple Cornbread

Churros and Chocolate Sauce

Class structure

Cooking with your classmates is an integral part of your Leiths experience. You will cook some of your recipes in pairs, and some independently – whatever the ratio, there is always more than enough food, and often food to take home too (foil containers and bags provided).

Your day will comprise of a mixture of hands on cookery and demonstrations performed by the chef who is running the session. The exact format will vary from class to class depending on the style of cuisine and, in the case of visiting chefs, their individual teaching style.

Unless otherwise stated, you will be eating the food that you have cooked during your class for lunch, usually with elderflower cordial around a communal table. If your class does not involve cooking lunch you will enjoy delicious sharing platters prepared by the school.

What is included:

  • Refreshments on arrival

What you need to bring:

  • Flat soled shoes
  • Long trousers and a long sleeved top are advisable

We are happy to make adjustments where possible. Some classes are however unsuitable for people with particular intolerances – where the menu would need to be completely different.
