Kewalin Putch

Restaurant & Cafe Owner

Graduate of:
Leiths Three Term Diploma in Food and Wine

Bio
Kewalin graduated from Leiths a few years ago, and now has her own fine dining restaurant in Bangkok, Royal Osha, where she researches and develops the menu throughout the year. Royal Osha has received a host of awards including an inclusion in the Michelin Guide and the Tatler Thailand Best Restaurant Award 2019. She also recently opened a Nordic/British inspired café for brunch and lunch called Kasnäs A Little While.

Life before Leiths
Kewalin had graduated from hotel school in Switzerland and wanted to deepen her knowledge and understanding of food. Having always loved cooking and cooking for others, this was the natural next step.

Top three things learnt at Leiths?
To be honest, I have learnt so much; how to work in a team, time management in the kitchen, how to prioritise my work and decide what to do first, and to think more carefully before doing something. And of course the in-depth cooking theory.”

What’s next?
As Royal Osha is a Thai fine dining restaurant, I want to be able to take this cuisine across the world and open somewhere internationally – like in London or New York. That will be my 5-year goal.”

Any tips for today’s grads?
I think there are so many opportunities in the food and hotel industries. It doesn’t have to be just in the kitchen, there are so many careers you can do with food. It’s very international. Wherever you go you can find a job, I promise!” The world is your oyster, pretty much.
